James Dankert — illustrator

James Dankert grew up in Austin, Minnesota. He's been drawing pictures all his life, lately doing spot illustrations for Twin Cities publications such as
City Pages and The Rake. His work consists mainly of black-and-white line drawings and linocut prints, and he's recently experimented with integrating color. Most pieces have a story to tell, and reflect the artist's interest in the everyday—or at least an imagined everyday. As a musician, he's known as Bill Dankert and was drummer and sometimes songwriter
for the Gear Daddies, in addition to other projects. He lives in St. Paul.
