Mark Mustful
Raku pots
Raku is a type of pottery that developed in Japan along
with the Tea Ceremony. The technique involves reaching into a blazing
kiln with tongs, removing a pot and plunging it into sawdust, leaves,
grass or some other material that will cut off the oxygen to the pot.
The glazes on the surface of the pot then develops the wonderous variations
you see after the pot has cooled and been cleaned. These pots are ornimental.
Each piece is unique and hand crafted. The clay body and the glazes have
been redeveloped by Mark from some of the worlds greatest Raku artists.
Mark is located in NE Minneapolis and has been making pottery for over
thirty years.
